The circular paintings show the depth of space, and a never-ending expanse.
Just like the circular nature of water and the weather, these images may not end at the edge of painting, wind and clouds move in circles, away from the viewer‘s eye only to return toward the viewer from the other side.
I did not have a concept of landscape in mind, but a universal “round” sense of spatial perception.
My works are similar in size and shape to the skylights of the Nordic House foyer. They reflect the sensuous infinity of the circle, underline and appreciate the architecture by Alvar Aalto.
I understand my images as both a solo exhibition and, at the same time, as a tribute to Iceland’s mystical landscape and culture – a space for reflection on time and perception.
